The Cath Holding area is our pre/post-op area for all outpatient procedures. Our patients are brought up from patient access to the holding area, where they are met by our staff of RNs and CNAs and are prepped for their procedure. This includes reviewing medications, placing patients on the monitor, reviewing any labs, and obtaining IV access and other labs as needed. Starting IV fluids and administration of any pre-procedure medications. Loop recorders are also placed in the CCH area by our physicians, and the staff does assist in these procedures. They will also receive the patients back following their procedures. They oversee post-procedure instructions, bed rest for patients and ensure patients' procedure sites do not bleed after the procedure. They also oversee our TEE area and perform TEEs both outpatient and inpatient.
