Mix and Mingle with MWHC At Our New Grad Hiring Event

You're on the edge of something big — and we’re here to help you take the next step. If you are looking to start your RN career in 2025, we invite you to join us for a relaxed, in-person Mix & Mingle. This is your opportunity to meet nurse leaders, recent grads, future colleagues, and career mentors ready to support your journey into professional nursing. We will only be interviewing for the following specialties for start dates in 2025:

Surgical Intermediate Care

Surgical Intermediate (2 South) is a 32-bed Telemetry-Monitored Surgical Stepdown Unit, designed for patients who require close monitoring for a variety of reasons. Our patient population consists of surgical patients (neuro, extensive abdomen surgeries, Whipples, etc.), trauma, stroke, chronic mechanical ventilation, DKA patients requiring insulin infusions, MSET responses (requiring a higher level of care from medical), high oxygen support needs, COVID and the step-down population (complex medical patients, sepsis, and respiratory failure). Our team focuses on providing high-quality, excellent patient care while partnering with the multidisciplinary care team.

Cardiac Progressive Care

Cardiac Progressive (2 North) specializes in the care of cardiac stepdown and complex medical step-down patients. Our patient population consists of respiratory failure, sepsis, highly acute congestive heart failure, titratable drips requiring additional monitoring from the nurse, thoracic surgeries, and post-open heart surgery patients, to name a few. Our dynamic team members collaborate to ensure we provide our patients and their families with an excellent experience while they are in our care.

Cardiac Care

Cardiac Care (3 North) is a 32-Bed Telemetry-Monitored Cardiac Care Unit. Our unit is designed for patients who require close cardiac telemetry monitoring. We care for patients with the following diagnoses, but not limited to: post-cardiac procedures (cardiac catheterization, pacemaker placement/upgrade, AICD placement, ablations, and Watchman procedure), acute or chronic heart failure, and cardiac arrhythmias. In this unit, you can experience a variety of patient acuity from specialized cardiac drips to bedside cardioversions. Our fast-paced unit takes pride in providing excellent patient care through collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team and unit camaraderie!

Intensive Care Unit (Medical & Surgical)

Mary Washington Hospital's ICU is 38 beds, separated into a Medical ICU (MICU) and a Surgical ICU (SICU). The MICU's typical patient population can include diagnoses such as respiratory failure, DKA, renal failure, and more. The SICU's population is more specialized, with trauma patients, CV surgery patients (such as TAVRs and CABGs directly from the OR), neurosurgery patients, and other complicated surgical patients. Specialized equipment seen in our ICUs includes (but is not limited to) ventilators, CRRT, intraaortic balloon pumps, Impella, EKOS, and therapeutic temperature management. We are a fast-paced, hardworking, interdisciplinary ICU team with the benefit of 24/7 in-house intensivist coverage and eICU services.
