Expand your nursing practice right here at home – opportunities abound at MWHC!  Nehad Abed, Director, Nursing Administration, has experienced this over the past 14 years, here is her story...

Nehad’s love of the geriatric population is why she became a nurse.  There was always a plan – no matter what unit or position she wanted to aspire to, leadership had a vision and plan in place to get her to where she wanted to be.

Nehad lives in Spotsylvania with her husband, who is the principal at Spotsylvania High School and their 13-year old daughter who loves basketball and soccer.  As a family, they enjoy any and all outdoor activities in the summer and have season passes to Kings Dominion.

Years at MWHC: 14

MWHC Journey:  Nehad started as an LPN applicant, and when she passed the board exam she became an LPN in Behavioral Health where she stayed for about five years.  She continued her education and became an RN, and immediately became a charge nurse.  She then became the Assistant Nurse Manager Behavioral Health and Neuro and then transitioned to Manager of that unit for 3 years.  Utilizing the tuition reimbursement program, Nehad went back to school to get her BSN and took a position for Transport Manager for centralized transport and a few months later the Director left so she transitioned to Director, Nursing Administration where she has been for about a year and a half.

Fun Fact About Nehad:  Nehad loves to workout and is addicted to bootcamp.  She attends faithfully every morning at 5 AM.
