Physician Assistant
(Orthopedic Surgery)

Mary Washington Healthcare Orthopedics is a high-volume multi-specialty orthopedic surgical practice seeking a full-time Physician Assistant in orthopedic joint and sports medicine. The practice has three facilities (Fredericksburg, Stafford and Spotsylvania) covering four counties. This group is also seeking a full-time podiatry (foot/ankle) focused Physician Assistant as well as a full-time arthroplasty focused Physician Assistant.

Fredericksburg is located one hour south of Washington D.C. and one hour north of Richmond, VA (50 miles in either direction) off Interstate 95. Clinical/Hospital duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Treat patients both independently and with supervision.
  • Participate in pre- and post-operative care of patients.
  • Order appropriate tests and develop patient treatment plans.
  • Independent interpretation of X-rays and MRIs.
  • Perform injections, casting, and other orthopedic office procedures.
  • Collect patient data and document pertinent notes in the EMR.
  • Assist with major and minor surgical procedures in the operating room within the scope of licensure.
  • Participate in on-call activities and inpatient rounds as directed by the physician.
  • Assist in fielding/triaging patient and physician calls.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be eligible for or have a current Virginia license.
  • Must be or near achieving NCCPA certification.
  • Valid DEA license.
  • Orthopedic experience preferred.
