Ophthalmologist

Mary Washington Eye Care Center is recruiting for a board-certified Ophthalmologist with excellent clinical and surgical skills to join our established practice with a cornea-trained ophthalmologist and a medically trained optometrist.  You will be responsible for comprehensive eye care with a focus on handling more sophisticated surgical services.  Other responsibilities will include:

  • Diagnose and treat medical and surgical eye trauma. 
  • Perform routine eye exams (i.e., diabetic eye exam), prescribing corrective lens, and some contact lens fitting. 
  • Manage general medical ocular conditions with a special interest in glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmology.
  • Perform general ophthalmological procedures (i.e., cataract surgery, Yag capsulotomy, Peripheral iridotomy, etc.) with interest in doing MICGS and any other minor glaucoma surgery (i.e., trabeculectomy). 
  • Comfortable being on trauma call every 2-3 weeks with the use of teleophthalmology resources as needed. 
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the ophthalmological medical and surgical conditions and licensing.
  • Be meticulous, analytical, and have steady hands.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Medical Degree
  • Successful completion of residency in Ophthalmology with board certification
  • State of Virginia Medical License or eligible
